Substantialization of competency-driven education

Operation of an NCS-based group study and competency education program

  • The program functioned as a study group aiming to strengthen employment capabilities and cultivate accounting experts, and provide a specific employment roadmap for students looking to work in the financial industry.
    • The program also prepared students for certified tax accountant qualification exams, and simulated investment contests for university students.
  • The Department offered a capacity building program to improve the creative problem-solving ability of current students.

Reinforcing global competencies

Overseas employment initiative (the “Cheonghaejin” project)

  • Six out of eight students participating in the first round of the Cheonghaejin project succeeded in securing employment.
  • 15 students are currently undergoing local training and seeking employment in Ho Chi Minh as part of the second round of the Cheonghaejin project (launched in January 2019).

The Global Young Leadership Program (AYLP)

  • The University hosted a five-day summer camp for 50 local university students (excluding students enrolled in universities across Seoul and Gyeonggi-do).
  • The camp featured academic learning and training sessions, lectures at the US Embassy, lectures by professors specializing in US international relations

Strengthening the support for employment seekers and prospective start-ups

  • Guidance on academic and career paths, job counseling and job counseling programs
  • Consultation of 212 students in the 2018-1 Semester and 234 people in the 2018-2 Semester

Strengthening regional cooperation

Hosting of the HYPER Industry-Academia Cooperation Committee

  • The Department established a feedback system to improve programs available at the Department, leveraging various industry and academia connections.
  • The Department created an alumni network to raise funds for the Department of Business Administration.

Operation of the Glocal Volunteer Group

  • October 31, 2018, Gyerim Middle School (Gyeongju)
    • Hosted a volunteer program at Gyerim Middle School using “Go, go! The Next Entrepreneur!” (teaching materials)
  • Students were able to learn the ecosystem of private corporations (e.g. product production, sales, capital acquisition, and talent recruitment) through board games.
    • Featured two advisors (Professors Lee Yeong-chan and Son Min-hee), and 57 students from the Department of Business Administration

Strengthening the base for specialization

Hosting of open school sessions to give high school students an overview of each academic major

  • May 11, 2018 / May 18, 2018 / May 25, 2018 - Hosted a total of three academic major counseling sessions for high school students.
  • Introduced the Department of Business Administration to high school students across Gyeongju (Gyeongju Girl’s High School, Silla High School, Gyerim High School, Gyeongju High School, Moonhwa High School, Angang Girl’s High School, etc.).

Promotion of the “Dongguk University Gyeongju Campus Scholarship Association”

  • The main purpose of the scholarship program is to improve the self-esteem, academic achievement, satisfaction regarding university life, and competitiveness by offering more opportunities for scholarships to undergraduate and graduate business administration students.
  • Scholarship offers are extended to a total of 53 students (3 graduate school students, 50 undergraduate students).
